This is a political/ allegorical piece I created. While at first glance it may appear to be a lovely pastoral scene it contains many hidden messages. Here is my poem!
The big white house sits on the hill,
Its occupants discussing each proposed bill.
It's washday, clothes hung on the line,
Let's see who's hung out this time.
There's a maids dress, and a blue collared shirt,
Overalls, an apron, "Keep that flag off the dirt!",
The basket is full of those who've cried foul,
And some, who threw in the towell.
Her pockets are stuffed with special interest groups,
And lobbyists seeking personal loops.
The rat at her feet has a loan to sell,
He knows its no good, but what the hell.
Pink slip in hand, hope in his heart,
That young man needs a new start.
But the well has run dry, they took it all,
Big men, who 'just couldn't fall'.
The farmer desperately tries to repair his soul,
As slowly he digs his way out of a hole....
Self-taught, Gail's artistic interests and abilities have been part of who she is her entire life. Starting with crayons and a Poloroid camera, she has evolved into an artist with a unique style all her own. Having an 'Enjoy the moment, for it will all to soon be gone!' outlook comes through in her work. Her love of the natural world and its inhabitants fuels a desire to capture their beauty, while her sense of humor and appreciation of that which is magical and whimsical is also a driving force behind her art. Her portraits are renditions which capture the character of her chosen subjects, as she 'casts' them in roles which give a glimpse into their 'personality'. Her 'Wordplay' series showcases her love of a good pun, and her animal...
